HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESS!!!

To My Jessica on her birthday…

Today my ODLER sister is 31
I’m sure that doesn’t make my mom feel young

My Jessica is so sweet
but has stinky feet

She is always the boss
of A L L of us

We love her so willings
Why does she have to live in Billings?

We can’t wait to see her soon
This poem sucks like dog poo

You Won't See This in California

This morning I had one of those experiences that made me feel like “now I’ve seen it all”.

I was half-heartedly watching the news when a commercial caught my eye, and not because of the product being solicited. It must have been an ad for a local silversmith (or something of the likes); they were showing belt buckles and maybe even jewelry.

A cowboy was shown herding cattle and it was then that I noticed that one of the cows in the upper-right of my TV screen was getting busy with one of the other cows.

You cannot tell me that the editors didn’t notice this. Look at what kind of crap they pull (and get away with) in Montana.

What else can I expect from a state that puts on a Testicle Festival in the spring?

Another Isaac'ism

We get a lot of Disney catalogs, at least one a week. In these catalogs are many things that you can personalize: clothes, duffel bags, lunch boxes, etc.
One day last week Isaac was looking at all this wonderful merchandise Disney offers at an unaffordable price. He found one sweatshirt that he liked that had been personalized for the little boy wearing it.
Isaac said "if only my name was Justin, I could have this sweatshirt".

When Taken Out of Context...It Really Doesn't Make Any Sense

"I’ve already been feeling nostalgic... ...then out of the sky! Tempo Tissue."

(An afternoon trip down memory lane for me and Jess...she's the clever one.)

I Hope He Won't Be Too Far Away

The following caused me to shed many unexpected tears when read out loud in Primary today. I guess all the exciting mission talk is getting to me.

My brother is on a mission
In a place far away.
He teaches folks about the Lord.
He shows them how to pray.

My brother is on a mission.
His letters make me proud.
Because he’s doing what he should,
He stands out in a crowd.

My brother is on a mission.
It’s the right thing to do.
And when I’m big like my brother,
I’ll serve a mission too.

Upcoming stuff

FYI

A week from tonight (Nov 16) JK2 & JK1 are going to see Paul McCartney.

The weekend of Nov 18 Uncle Dale, Kristofer, Jordan, Jamesson, and I (and whomever) will be building a shed at Gramma K's to house her pellets for her pellet stove.

Jordan is speaking in Sacrament Service that Sunday.

The first weekend in December JK1,2,6,7 are going to Mt Shasta. Anybody else want to go?

Oh the Places You'll Go

I know we talked about this, but I wanted to put it on the blog.

I recently discovered a very profound book. You have probably read it. Dr Suess' Oh the Places You'll Go.

I heard about it recently at a facilitator's meeting. When my mother and I were in Montana we took M and I to the library. I read the book, and, when I pondered how powerful this message could have been in Jan's life as a little girl and lamented the fact that there was no adult in her life to share anything like it with her, I had to hide in the bathroom to compose myself. I received this general message from my parents and grandparents, and we did our best to give this message to our children (I hope we did our job of giving this message to all of you), but Jan and her sisters did not receive this message.

I immediately went and purchased four copies (us, the Wilhelms, Camachos, and Duffs) to make sure my children and grandchildren hear this message and have it reinforced.

Was Charlotte Pre-Historic?

So last night at bedtime we read the chapter from Charlotte's Web where Wilbur has a brief conversation with Charlotte before meeting her or even seeing her. She tells him to go to sleep and that in the morning she would reveal herself.
So I was tucking the kids in and asking what they thought Wilbur must be thinking. What did she look like, what kind of animal is she, would they be friends, etc. Then Isaac pipes up with "and does she know about dinosaurs".

You big baby Jessica. Don’t cry when you read this… (ha ha ha just kid-n-)

Last weekend it was brought to my attention that I am the Biggest Boob. (No cheesy boob jokes people) I was told I am a sissy la la! WHEN did this happen!?!?! I thought I was the Hard ASS of the family!
Come on, really, don’t you think Jessica is the biggest boob?

If I must hold this title, I must… BUT I will kick anyone’s ass that brings it up again. Just a warning… Love ya!
